BACKGROUND

Preamble 

Kitala secondary school is a grant- aided government school which started in 2000 as a community school, It started as an O’level school and was later upgraded to an A ‘level secondary school in 2012.

Location:

The school is found in Busiro County -Katabi Town Council, Kitala Parish. It is located 23km km from Kampala city on the Kampala-Entebbe road and less than kilometer on the road that goes to Kitala Prisons. It is directly opposite the Witala Prison and sits on 3,8 acres of land.

 

Historical background.
The school was founded as a community school by Katabi Town Council under the leadership of Mr. Gerald Mukasa the chairperson LCIII. It started with a small number students but as the population grew, it operated under double shift. Later this was phase out after the construction of more building which were sponsored by the world bank.

Infrastructure.
The old building was constructed by Katabi Town Council under the leadership of Gerald Mukasa. 03 classroom blocks and 01 laboratory block, 01 administrative block and 02 classroom shelters built on the newly acquired school land. There is a kitchen for food preparation, a small temporary office block and toilets for boys and girls. Three stances for boys and seven for girls. The school is fenced with a perimeter wall and chain link.

 

Additional Information:

Kitala Senior Secondary School was started in 2008 by KatabLocal Government under the local government development project as a community mixed day school. It started with S. l and kept on upgrading classes up to S.6 in 2013. From 2012 to 2014, it was under a double shift system due to inadequate infrastructure. However, the government gave a grant which was used to put up more classrooms, 2 laboratories and an administration block. It is located in Katabi Town council, Wakiso district. It is 23km from Kampala along Kampala – Entebbe road. It is seated on 3.8 acres of land also occupied by Kitala prison and a health centre II. It is a government day O’ level and A’ level school with an enrolment of 1200 students.

It has 48 teachers on government payroll, 4 non-teaching staff of which 2 are on government payroll and 5 support staff It has a functional Board of Governors appointed by government and a P.T.A executive.
